As generative AI becomes more accessible to learners, teachers are increasingly questioning whether submitted assignments represent genuine student understanding. Although AI-detection tools may provide useful indicators, they cannot offer absolute proof. This article explores the issue from a Ugandan classroom perspective and proposes practical, fair and learning-centred responses.
